How a Dollar General Employee Went Viral on TikTok
A Dollar General employee is now famous for posting a photo of herself cleaning the store with a $20 bill for every single item, while at the same time giving a shoutout to the store’s founder.
The employee, who wished to remain anonymous, is now known as #dgstorecleaner, and has more than 9,600 followers. In the video, she claims she is just following in the footsteps of “mom,” who she says “was the first one in line today,” while cleaning the store. The video has so far garnered more than 150 million views.
TikTok has reportedly been used to share employee photos, and the store employee’s video has become so popular that it has spawned a fan following that is bigger than the store employee herself.
The employee says she originally used the TikTok app to put her store cleaning video up, but then decided to make it longer and added more of them. She claims she put them all up in hopes that her video would go viral, but ultimately realized there was no way to do it without it being shared on the platform.

The store employee said she started saving the TikTok video after it reached more than 100 million views. The store employee said she now has a full-time job waiting for her because she wants to be a “stay-at-home mom.”
“I just want to have kids so bad,” she wrote to customers, according to NBC News.
In her video, the employee can be heard saying, “Now I want to give everyone a shoutout and say thank you for everything you do, but because all the moms have had babies, and all the moms get sick of their jobs and have to change them, so I said, ‘Do you realize that’s not real life?!’ So I’m going to give everyone a shout out, and say thank you for everything you do, for your hard work.”
