A man has been shot dead in west London after an armed police operation, police have said.

A gun was reportedly fired during the incident, but a Scotland Yard spokesman could not confirm whether the man was shot dead by police or an armed member of the public.

Officers were called to a property in Wandsworth in west London at about 1515 GMT, after receiving reports of a man with a gun.

They established that an armed response team was needed.

Mr Warren said his 37-year-old nephew was inside a house in Church Street, Wandsworth, when armed police entered the premises.

She said: “It was like a battle. A man was pinned to the floor for a couple of minutes. He was screaming.

“I saw him with blood pouring down his face. He was lying on the floor with a gun placed at his chest. I don’t know if he was holding the gun or not.”

He was “found deceased inside the property” according to the Metropolitan Police.
