Marijuana Legalization Will Not Bring Marijuana Legalization

Letters to the Editor: L.A. County voters made a big mistake passing Measure A

I am an L.A. County resident with a life history of voting. I have voted for the majority of the people who have run for office for the last 25 years.

I am an active registered voter. I live in a large city with a great deal of diversity. I have attended and volunteered for a number of events with a wide array of political views. I have followed many candidates for office and listened to their positions with some level of interest.

Now I am living in a very safe community, with a wonderful school system. But my family has seen the damage caused by illegal immigration and the hate that has been spewed at the communities we live in all across this country. If you don’t see me voting for our candidate for L.A. County supervisor, please see me as the person who will protect your families from this problem. I am voting for my candidate tomorrow at the polls and will tell you, if I am wrong, I will take your vote with me.

Thank you for listening to me.

Marijuana legalization won’t bring marijuana legalization

It’s a sad fact that California law has not been as lenient on cannabis legalization as we, the people, deserve because of one issue. I do not know how else to describe it: When it comes to the use and possession of marijuana in California, there is no way to make marijuana legal, at least in this state, unless you are a pot dealer. It is illegal to sell marijuana even in private.

Here in California we are not alone with this issue. Federal law has done nothing to change federal policy.

California has passed a strong law with great public sentiment, but sadly, marijuana hasn’t been legalized.

The war on police chiefs is a war on justice

The chief of Los Angeles police has been charged with violating the federal civil rights of eight black or Latino police chiefs in an attack on their office.

The charges are not only unjust, they are a disgrace.

They also reveal the truth of the American justice system: Not only
