Nick Kyrgios has found another reason to love tennis, admitting he can’t wait to take part in the Australian Open next year.

The 23-year-old Australian, who has clashed with superstar Rafael Nadal on court in the past, is now hoping to aim for a Grand Slam title, and said the allure of Melbourne Park had won him over.

Kyrgios shared his excitement on Instagram, saying he was “excited to be in Melbourne next year” after the Open begins next January.

“Come January 2018 I will be 26 & ready to win at least one Slam,” he added in the post, which included a reference to golfer Tiger Woods’ recovery from a self-inflicted back injury.

“2019 might be too soon tho ……But I am practicing in Abu Dhabi and I am committed to #goals.

“I love the season start in Abu Dhabi and I have loved being part of the tournament since it began 10 years ago.

“But I had the time of my life playing with some of the greats of the game last week in the Middle East and want to get back there early next year,” he said.
