In the wake of the shooting of five people at Fort Hood on Jan. 8, Oath Keepers leader and former U.S. Marine Brandon Combs, 28, has been on the phone with President-elect Donald Trump to voice his support of the president-elect and to urge him to follow through on his pledge to put “extreme vetting” in place for immigrants and refugees already in the country.
“When we talk with President-elect Trump, we always remind him of what he said in his campaign and the pledge he made – to secure our borders, to reduce the level of illegal immigration, to reduce immigration to the United States to be less than 300,000 people a year,” Combs said in an exclusive interview with the Chronicle.
According to an official list obtained by the Chronicle, the United States, at the time of Trump’s inauguration, admitted nearly 3.5 million immigrants and refugees and granted nearly 800,000 legal permanent residence on the basis of family ties or employment that would place them in the U.S. for at least several years.
