Tony Ferguson and Khabib Nurmagomedov can take four of the top five spots if they win – but neither has won in over a year
The biggest show in the UFC for a few years with four of the world’s top five pound-for-pound fighters squaring off in Las Vegas tonight.
Khabib Nurmagomedov and Tony Ferguson will be fighting for the vacant lightweight title with both men having won the belt in recent fights – but both are coming off defeats.
Cody Garbrandt and Dominick Cruz won their rematches with Mark Hunt and Derrick Lewis but a bout of Tito Ortiz and Matt Serra fame remains their most recent win.
The tournament to crown a new champion will continue in Las Vegas but with a few notable changes to the line-up.
Not only are the heavyweights not in the line-up but Michael Bisping has withdrawn from his light-heavyweight title defence against champion Daniel Cormier due to injury.
Dan Henderson will step into the void against American Ovince Saint Preux.
All of the fighters featured have an inside track to fighting the winner of the lightweight title fight, and unless there are other changes announced, all of the regular fighters in the card will be fighting for that prestigious belt.
