Wakanda Forever is directed by Kwame Alexander, who directed Wakanda Forever: From the Earth to the Sky.

In the film, the narrative is told from the point of view of T’Challa, the former king of Wakanda, the African country whose throne is based on a meteorite.
The title of the film – Wakanda Forever – is a reference to the name of Martin Luther King Jr.’s African American community which was known for being multi-racial and welcoming to members of other races.
Speaking about the film during the announcement of the new sequel, Kwame Alexander said: “Wakanda Forever is one of many films I have worked on that uses the African diaspora as a metaphor for the global human story.”

When asked about the film’s budget, Kwame Alexander said: “It was a very difficult project to film. The most challenging decision made was to make the film we wanted, and not worry about how to make a film that would be commercially viable.
“We thought hard about what we wanted to say, and what we wanted to look like, then got to work on the script.
“I want to thank the creative and visual talents at Marvel to have given me the freedom to make Wakanda Forever the way that I wanted to make it, in a way that reflected our country’s rich diversity.”
